The two days in Arequipa(2350m) flew by! The colonial city at the foot of the mighty volcano El Misti is bustling with a mixture of locals, backpackers and school children on excursion.

We visited the highlight of the city, the Monasterio de Santa Catalina and walked though the busy old city. There are around a hundred (not exaggerated) travel agencies that try to sell costly and touristy tours of the CaƱon del Colca, the world's second deepest canyon. We tried to organize our own tour but unfortunately failed as the buses that drive to Chivay (a city 4 hours away) were full even 1 day before. Instead we had a relaxing day in Arequipa, ate delicious food and got ourselves acclimatized to the altitude to prepare for our next stop, Puno, which is at the altitude of 3830m..!

Now we are slurping our jugo de naranja with our new travel companions, Alessia and Aiko, while waiting for the time to pass and catch the bus to Puno! Hasta luego!
